Gustav is a handsome, black, male German Shepherd Dog. His date of birth is 3/4/2017 and he weighs around 70 pounds. He has a moderate energy level and is crate-trained and housebroken. He is good with kids and other dogs but has not been cat-tested. Gustav is one of our recent medical cases. He was surrendered to us by his original owners after they discovered he required hip surgery to correct his severe hip dysplasia. His condition was debilitating and he was in a great amount of pain and was immobile. We agreed to take him into our program to perform an FHO surgical procedure (Femoral Head Ostectomy) to alleviate his condition. He has now recovered and is available for adoption. We are so very grateful for the kind and generous supporters who donated to his surgery!

ADOPTION: Training (for both the dog and the family) increases the probability of a successful adoption. We feel strongly that training is an essential part of responsible dog ownership and we now require training for every dog placed through the MTGSR program.

The cost of adoption is $500 which includes the $250 adoption fee and a training fee of $250 due at the time of adoption.

For the adoption fee, the dog will be spayed/neutered, current on all vaccinations, current on heartworm/flea-tick preventatives and microchipped.

The training fee will include a plan tailored to that specific dog and that dog's needs (obedience training, behavior modification, etc.).

PLEASE NOTE: Our philosophy is “Rescue locally, place locally” which means we primarily pull dogs from shelters in the Nashville area AND we prefer to place our dogs in homes within a one-hour drive of Nashville. If you are outside of the Nashville area, please consider adopting a homeless dog in your local community.
